A joint application to modify the Definitive Map and Statement of Rights of Way by adding a bridleway along the route known as Pinford Lane (which is partly in our parish) has been made to Dorset Council by Sherborne Town Council, Yeohead and Castleton Parish Council and Milborne Port Parish Council.
You can find more details about the application here, using the T reference T786 for the case:
https://mapping.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/rightsofway/definitivemap/register
Information from Dorset Council leads us to believe that the case is unlikely to be addressed for a number of years due to the large number of applications awaiting attention, and we could be waiting for up to five years or more for an outcome. However, we have been told that evidence of use of this route in living memory could result in the case being prioritised sooner than currently anticipated.
If you have used this route at any time in the past, you can help to expedite this process by completing a DMMO User Evidence form, which can be found here: 9400cc71-351d-ffe6-10f3-a7c949ea601f (dorsetcouncil.gov.uk) or via this link: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/-/changing-the-definitive-map. If you would like to complete a form but would prefer a hard copy, please pick one up from the Parish Council Office in the Town Hall on a Tuesday morning, 8.30-12.30, or get in touch and we can post one to you.
If you do not have user evidence but can articulate good reasons for why the application should be prioritised, you can contact the team at Dorset Council directly: DefinitiveMapTeam@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk, telephone 01305 224463.
There is a Facebook group devoted to this initiative which can be found here:
