New installations at Springfield
Many thanks are due to the Football Foundation for a substantial grant towards the new ball stop posts and netting at Springfield, which were installed last month; the balance was met by Section 106 monies (contributions from developers towards the costs of providing community and social infrastructure). Visitors to Springfield might also have noticed some new cycle racks – bought with a grant from South Somerset District Council – which have been installed next to the Village Hall and are already being well used.
Take a Seat!
A grant from South Somerset District Council was used to buy and have installed two new benches in the village – on the corner of Plover Road and Gainsborough, and at the corner of The Meads and East Street. The one at the corner of Plover Road will be dedicated to the memory of Tim Cadisch, who died in 2019; Tim was responsible for the wonderful flower planting along the west side of Gainsborough that is no doubt much appreciated by villagers in the Spring and Summer months – more details on the dedication in next month’s edition.
